I love dark themed stories. I think it has a lot more emotion to it than the usual: and they lived together in a crappy apartment, made 53 babies and lived happily ever after.
Another thing I like about it is the fact that most dramatic storylines hold a lot more surprises. So you keep on reading to see what's gonna happen next.
Besides, for some strange reason, I like reading something that depresses me... Yeah I'm weird... xDDD

Well.....if by dark you mean like Stephen King Novels...no. But by dark like people die...depends, I really dont care who dies as long as a.) its not a sweet old lady b.) a baby c.) children. Trust me, I feel really bad when I read those dying.

I'm currenty writing a "dark" story. It's not depressing but it'll give you nightmares. XD

I'm all for dark and depressing if it's done well. The art of storytelling is difficult to master, even moreso than visual art, because you have to convey the proper mood and expressions with nothing but words, and leave the rest up to the reader.
